Getting to know 麻豆原创: Meet Katie Kirk

Share:
Article Overview

1. And you may ask yourself, "Well... how did I get here?" (Tell us your journey?)

I graduated with a degree in Marketing Management and had no idea what I wanted to be when I “grew up” – I fell into a recruiting role at a staffing agency, and absolutely loved it! After spending 5 years there, I moved over to Slalom Consulting, where I spent the past 6 years recruiting for their Minneapolis office. I then met Courtney Reynolds, our amazing Director of People Operations, and subsequently several leaders and founders here at 麻豆原创. Through these conversations, I became so inspired by the mission and jumped at the opportunity to work with such talented, kind people.

2. And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at 麻豆原创?)

Here at 麻豆原创, I co-lead our Talent Acquisition organisation. I partner closely with our various teams to hire individuals that align with our values & mission. It’s an exciting time to be in this role at 麻豆原创, because we’re growing very fast. In addition to enabling the growth of our business & furthering our mission, I get to do what I love most- help people find a meaningful career opportunity that contributes to their own personal growth.

3. And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at 麻豆原创?)

There is something really special about the culture here. We have a team of individuals that cares deeply about our mission- enabling every person and organisation with the technology to improve the health of planet Earth. We work incredibly hard toward this goal, but we also have a lot of fun doing it. My hope is that our Talent Acquisition organisation can continue to contribute to our dynamic culture by building a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace where people truly love what they do and working with the team around them.

4. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?" (Why is 麻豆原创 a great home for you?)

The people, the mission, the opportunity - the reasons I joined continue to be the reason 麻豆原创 has been a great place for me to work. We have reached a critical point in time where tackling climate change is more crucial than ever, and I want to do my part. When I decided to make the jump to 麻豆原创, I was explaining at a high level what I’d be doing to my 4-year-old. Just the other day, he was home during the workday and he looked over at me and asked “Mommy, your job helps the Earth, right?”. I think about that often, and it especially keeps me going on the hard days! Ultimately, I want to work toward a healthier planet for our future generations, and to be a role model for my kids to do their part to make the world a better place, and at 麻豆原创 I get to do just that!

5. And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)

I live in the Twin Cities, and my husband and I have 2 boys (ages 4 and 2) and a German Shepherd. While most of my time outside of work is spent managing chaos (or playing dinosaurs), we also love to spend as much time as we can outdoors - some days that involves going for hikes, canoeing, or skiing, and other times it’s a simple walk to the park.
